How the score works
Counted mistakes are taken off your total, and your speed comes from the words that are left. A full mistake counts as one and a half mistake counts as half. You can go through the counted mistakes and the deductions on the result screen. The score cannot fall below zero.
Typing tips
If you make a mistake, keep going. Correction keys behave the way the table above describes, so stopping to fight one word costs you more than the word is worth. Check the result screen afterwards to see what actually went wrong.
- Read the mistake count and resulting mark separately from the speed target.
- Use new passages to check consistency. Then read the current notice for qualification and shortlisting conditions.
How to practise for the Supreme Court JCA typing test
Write the amount of text entered, the error result and the displayed marks on separate lines after each attempt, and read each against the practice model. A mark threshold and a speed threshold answer different questions, so do not stop at the green indicator or at a speed that happens to clear 35 WPM.
For accuracy, copy the line "Item 17: Ms Das submitted two copies of Form C." Replacing "two" with "2" keeps the meaning but changes the supplied text, which is exactly the kind of edit a copying task counts against you. Compare your version with the source before you look at the speed.
Then take an unfamiliar passage for a full attempt. If that result is weaker than one from a passage you have half memorised, keep both and label the repeat.
The app uses ten minutes, a 35 WPM English target, a derived 1,750-keystroke figure, a 3% maximum-error setting and a configured 50-mark scale. The source note records 43.18 marks as the 2025 shortlisting benchmark, while the mark step used here is inferred from published result values. Use your result to find mistakes, then consult the active notice for qualification and shortlisting.
The scoring guide explains the speed and error figures shown in your practice result.

Common questions
What typing speed is required for Supreme Court JCA?
35 words per minute in English, typed for 10 minutes, with mistakes allowed up to 3% of the words to be typed. The same 35 wpm is also an essential qualification for the post. This practice test uses those settings.
How do correction keys work here?
Only the word you are typing can be corrected with Backspace. Nothing else can be changed. This is how the simulator is built. It is separate from whatever editing latitude the real 2025 JCA test gave candidates.
Does this result establish official qualification?
No. The 2025 result published mark values out of 50, but it did not publish a marks-per-mistake rule. This practice test uses a step inferred from those values; it does not establish official qualification.
